Salem……
Ricardo A. Wilcock, a kind and loving son of Richard L. Wilcock of Salem and Daurin M. Naranjo of Lynn died Friday, January 28 at home.
Born March 29, 1996 in Boston, he had attended Salem Schools and was currently a Freshman at Salem High School. Ricardo was passionate about all aspects of baseball, including playing organized youth baseball, "pick up" games in the neighborhood with his friends, and going to Fenway Park with his dad. He had hoped to play high school ball later this year. He had other hobbies and interest as well, such as being a brother and spending time with his family. His grandparents had a tremendous influence on his life. Ricardo had spent much time in Fremont, NH where he had learned and enjoyed fishing, hunting (which included an appreciation for venison), camping, snowmobiling, ATVs and the outdoors under the guidance of his grandfather Gary Morrissette.
An all around great kid, who enjoyed family, friends and was full of life, Ricardo enjoyed having fun as any teenager should, and tried to look at the lighter side of most situations. He had many friends at the Marblehead/Swampscott YMCA where he frequently played basketball. His sense of responsibility also came through in both community involvement as well as his sense of entrepreneurship. Ricardo was the Treasurer of the General Israel Putnam Chapter of the Children of the American Revolution. In the summers he had operated his own neighborhood landscaping business and this winter worked as an Usher at Loews Theater in Danvers.
Ricardo is survived by his dad Richard Wilcock and his partner Eliana Batista of Salem; his mom Daurin Naranjo and her partner Melvin Gonzalez of Lynn; his two brothers Sicario and Yadiel Wilcock and his sister Dariana Wilcock all of Salem; grandparents Cyndy and Gary Morrissette of Fremont, NH, and Ana Naranjo of Salem; aunts and uncles Christopher and his wife Catie Wilcock of Wakefield, MA, Alex and Mabel Morales of Waltham, Roselyn Naranjo of Beverly; his great grandparents Capt. Raymond Bates, USN, Ret. and his wife Muriel Bates of Marblehead and a large extended family and several close friends. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his grandfathers Santander "Louie" Naranjo and Roland "Dick" Wilcock who were very proud of him and loved him dearly.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM at St James Church 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM in the Murphy funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Ricardo A.
