Regina C. Mielcarz died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 96. Formerly a life-long resident of Salem, MA, Regina lived at Granite Ledges in Concord, NH since 2010.
Regina was born on Aug. 21, 1925 in Salem, daughter of Stanley and Helen Slizgi. Regina graduated from Salem High School where she met her husband, Chester J. Mielcarz. They were married happily for 64 years.
Regina is predeceased by husband, Chester J. Mielcarz; her son, David A. Mielcarz; her sister, Isabel Pellegrini and her brother, Henry Slizgi.
Surviving family members include her two sons, Chester J. Mielcarz, Jr. and his wife, Yvette, of San Jose, CA, and Robert S. Mielcarz and his wife, Elaine, of Concord, NH; her daughter, Karen M. Szydlik and her husband, Barry, of Southbridge, MA and her daughter-in-law, Jane P. Weisman and her husband, Stuart, of Princeton, MA; 8 grandchildren: Dr. Daniel W. Mielcarz and wife, Ann, of Lebanon, NH; Brian J. Mielcarz of San Jose, CA; Kara M. Geiselman and husband, Kyle, of North Andover, MA; Lauren M. Christensen and husband, James, of Andover, MA; Peter C Weisman and wife, Jozie, of Hubbardston, MA; Joshua Weisman and wife, Jamie, of Wilmette, IL; Anabel A. Szydlik and Sophie C. Szydlik of Southbridge, MA; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Regina was employed by the Essex County of Massachusetts as a Buyer in the Purchasing Department, and a former Union President. She was also an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Regina's life was dedicated to her immediate and extended family. Regina was the happiest when surrounded by the many people who loved her and was kind to everyone. And those who knew her will undoubtedly remember her two favorite sayings— "You're beautiful" and "I love you."
Visiting Hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem MA, on Saturday, September 4 th , from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Those who attend are reminded that there is a mandatory mask mandate in Salem. A funeral mass will be held immediately following the visiting hours at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 3 Margin Street, Peabody MA, starting at 11 AM. Burial will follow the mass, and will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
