Regina M. Camarda, 96, passed away on February 24, 2016 at her home in Salem, MA. surrounded by her family. Born in Salem on January 16, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Filomena (Ventura) Ruscio and was the wife of the late John J. Camarda. Regina was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1937. She later attended the Hawthorne Institute. She taught at Salem Evening School and Beverly Evening School. Classes included rug braiding and creative stitchery. In later years she taught creative stitchery at the Salem Council on aging finally retiring at the age of 90. She had also taught at Essex Aggie.
She was a member of the former St. Mary Italian Church, Venturia Romana Lodge O.S.I.A., AARP, Salem Council on Aging, Essex County Needlecraft Guild, and Senior Center Council on Aging Writer's Group.
She is survived by her daughters; Jane Camarda, and Christine and her husband Philip G. Mauch and her grandchildren; Philip John Mauch and his wife Kim, and Jillian Mauch. She also leaves behind her great granddaughter Evelyn. Regina is also survived by her sister Rose Osborn. She was predeceased by her three brothers Remo, Romolo, and Robert Ruscio.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 3:00pm-7:00pm in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970. Her funeral service will be held Monday February 29, 2016 at 9:30am from Murphy Funeral Home. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at St. Anne Church 290 Jefferson Ave. Salem, MA. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery Salem, MA.
