Obituary

Mr. Ray T. Nash, age 57, husband of Nancy (Penni) Nash, died Thursday morning, October 17, 2013 at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital. Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Joe and Arlene (Grady) Nash. Mr. Nash was raised in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School. Following High School, Mr. Nash attended Berklee College of Music and graduated from the New England Conservatory as a piano technician. He started his career with M. Steinert and Sons and Symphony Hall. He continued his career as a Master Electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 103.

Mr. Nash was a Free Mason and was a member Philanthropic Lodge A.F & A.M in Marblehead and also a member of the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. He was also a member of the Widow's Sons Masonic Riders Group and the Gerry 5 in Marblehead. Mr. Nash continued his passion for instruments and enjoyed restoring pianos. He was a handy guy to have around, helping friends with electrical work and repairs or even a trip to the dump.

In addition to Mr. Nash's beloved wife, he is survived by his sister, Constance Friederichs and her husband Daniel of Westminster, MA formerly of Swampscott. He always told people that his grandson Andy was the best thing that ever happened to him. He is also survived by his brothers in law, S. Richard Penni and his wife Patricia of Westwood; Peter Penni and his wife Chris of Lake Worth, FL and Daniel Penni and his wife Suzanne of South Dennis; his sister in law, Suzanne Penni and her husband Charles Hannum of Tulsa, OK; and his daughter Christina Nash.

Mr. Nash's Funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. followed by Funeral Services at the Church of the Holy Name, Episcopal, 60 Monument Ave., Swampscott at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday October 22, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
