Rafael Montas, age 61, of Peabody died early Tuesday morning December 4, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House Danvers.
He was born, raised and educated in the Dominican Republic the son of the late Otilio and Vitalia (Lara) Montas. After attending college, Mr. Montas became employed as a longshoreman in the Dominican Republic working on the docks handling the import and export of cargo.
Most of all he enjoyed his home and being with his family.
Mr. Montas is survived by a daughter Aurelia Montas and her husband Kelby Reynoso of Peabody; a grandson Josue Perez of Peabody; and many brothers and sisters as well as a large extended family.
His funeral will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 2:30 P.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 3:00 P.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral from 1:00 P.M to 2:30 P.M. Interment will be private.
