Rachel May (Spiers) Davis age 89, wife of the late William Davis, died Wednesday January 20. 2010, in Danvers following a long illness.
Born in Boston the daughter of the late Hugh and Rachel A. (Young) Spiers she was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from Medford High School. A communications student in Boston, her interest included settlement house work, international students, and animal welfare organizations. Mrs. Davis was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Salem An compassionate and thoughtful woman, Mrs. Davis also enjoyed entertaining others (especially children) with her skits and humor. She and her husband had also enjoyed taking rides in the country.
She is survived by a son Philip H. "Doc" Davis of Gloucester; a sister in law of Jean Spiers of Wakefield, MA; three nephews Hugh Spiers of Arundel, ME, Henry Spiers of Medford, MA and Wesley Wilcox of LA; and a niece Linda Byam of Wakefield, MA.
She was predeceased by a brother Henry Spiers and a sister Marion Wilcox.
A memorial service at Grace Episcopal Church, 385 Essex St, Salem on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 3:00 P.M, .
