SALVI, PIETRINA (TINA). 96 of Marblehead, MA. Formerly of Pawling, NY, New York City, Chicago, IL, and Italy.
Beloved wife of Roberto Salvi (deceased), mother of Enrico Salvi and his wife Linda of Marblehead, Spera Salvi of Pawling, NY, grandmother of Julie Salicrup, Janice Loll, Kristen Salvi Pratt, Elisabeth Salvi and Laura Salvi, Great-grandmother of Mason and Scarlett Loll and Lucia Pratt. She is also survived by many relatives in Italy, Chicago, New York and Montreal, Canada.
Tina was born in Ripi, Frosinone, Italy, the third child of Federico Venditti and Dorodea Venditti (Lunghi). She immigrated to the United States in 1955 with her 2 children and became a citizen of the United States in 1960. She lived in Chicago 1955-60 and moved to New York when her husband joined her in 1960. In Chicago, she worked as a seamstress during the day and attended evening school with her children to learn English. She became proficient in English in less than a year. In 1961 she moved to New York with her family, where she was a seamstress and housewife. She was an outstanding cook ---all recipes by memory. Her favorites were handmade spaghetti and baked "Ciammelle Ripane" and other delicacies at Christmas. She taught some of the recipes to her granddaughters. Tina was a very beautiful woman with a great voice: she loved to sing old Italian popular and country songs. She also maintained a spirited personality for all her 96 years: a great sense of humor---spunky according to her granddaughters----always with a smile and ready with a joke ---sometimes risqué.
After a long life, she passed serenely --- with some of her favorite Italian songs being played---surrounded by her family.
Services are planned for September 29 and September 30 in Pawling, NY and internment in Hartsdale, NY next to her husband , Roberto.
