Peter T. Victory, 89, of Beverly, MA, formerly a longtime resident of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation in Beverly after a long struggle with Parkinson's.
Born in July 1932 in Boston to Bernard C. Victory and Ruth A. (Howard) Victory, Peter was the youngest brother of the late Eugene Victory and Bernard Victory. After graduating from Salem High School in 1950, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Boston College, graduating in 1958. Several years after meeting Cynthia A. Looker through the Carmel Club, he married her in October 1960, and they settled in Salem, where they raised their three children and shared 62 years of marriage. After working for several shipping companies, Peter worked for The Gillette Company as a market researcher for 23 years.
In retirement, Peter enjoyed his work at the National Park Service Historic Site at Salem's Derby Wharf and volunteering at the Salem Armory Regional Visitor Center. He served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. He also enjoyed travel adventures with his wife Cynthia, including a trip to Ireland (his father's birthplace) and a journey by train across the Canadian Rockies, a thrill for a lifelong rail fan.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia A. Victory of Beverly; his daughter, Kathleen M. Victory Hannisian and her husband Robert Hannisian of Danvers; sons Thomas Victory and Joseph Victory, both of Salem; granddaughter Aurora Hannisian of Danvers; and many beloved family members and friends.
Arrangements: Visiting hours will take place on Wednesday February 23 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem, MA from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 3 Margin Street, Peabody on Thursday, February 24 at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lynn.
