Peter "Pete" Petkewich age 92, loving husband of Margaret Eileen (McGill) Petkewich of Marblehead died Monday afternoon in the Lafayette Convalescent Home in Marblehead following an illness of several months.

Born in Lynn the son of the late Dominic and Mary (Butkus) Petkewich, he was raised on his family's dairy farm at Walden Pond in Saugus. Following his graduation from Saugus High School, Mr. Petkewich was graduated from Essex Agricultural School while continuing to work on the family farm. He later worked at the Pingree Farm handling animals as well as for Governor Fuller in Rye, New Hampshire.

Mr. Petkewich was a decorated military veteran having entered the National Guard Company D 101st Engineers at the age of 19 in 1933. During World War II he served in the United States Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theater aboard the USS Zaniah and later served in the Korean War aboard the USS Amphion.
Mr. Petkewich was a Machinist First Class serving as a welder at the Watertown Arsenal and retired from the Boston Naval Shipyard.

In his retirement Mr. Petkewich missed working and left retirement to construct tanker trucks in Middleton and later was employed by General Electric in Lynn in the Maintenance Department. Eventually he retired and he and his wife began to travel and enjoyed touring gardens and making new and strong friendships around the country.

A dedicated and loving father he had served as Boy Scout Troop Leader of
Troop 32 at St. Stephen's Church, Marblehead and was very active with the North Shore Association of Retarded Citizens, North Shore A.R.C.

An avid singer he enjoyed music and sang and named the Marblehead's Seniors Chorus the Neptunes and also enjoyed square dancing with his wife in Danvers.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Petkewich is survived by two sons Peter Petkewich of Danvers and David M. and his wife Mary Lou Petkewich of Reading; a daughter Christine (Nichols) and her husband John VanRemoortel of Marblehead; a sister in law Anne Petkewich of Saugus; four grandchildren Rachel Petkewich and her husband Jason Nichols of Silver Springs, MD, Jarred Petkewich of Boxboro, Andrew Nichols and his wife Krista Foster of Phoenix, AZ, and Heather and her husband Fred Deschenes of Essex and two great grandchildren Ashley and William Deschenes of Essex.

He was predeceased by a brother Dominic Petkewich.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North ST) Salem to be followed by funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 81 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
