Salem….
Peter P. Mooradian, age 93, husband of the late Margaret (Garabedian) Mooradian, with whom he had shared 56 years of marriage, died Monday, SEPTEMBER 1, 2008 in the Sutton Hill Nursing Home, North Andover.
Born in Salem the son of the late Paul (Boghos) and Agnes (Azniv) (Najarian) Mooradian, he was educated in Salem schools. Following his graduation from Salem High School, Mr. Mooradian became an Acting Manager of three A & P Grocery Stores on the North Shore for 10 years. During World War II he served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged as a Supply Sergeant.
Mr. Mooradian then returned to the food service industry as a Salesman for the J.P. Manning Co. of Boston, a wholesale tobacco business where his responsibilities included maintaining and acquiring new accounts as well as collections. He would also on occasion serve as the manager of branch stores overseeing the all of the store operations.
In 1961, Mr. Mooradian and his wife established the Peter Mooradian Wholesale Co. of Peabody. A business they grew to serve the North Shore for almost 20 years until retiring in 1978.
Mr. Mooradian loved people and being with his family. He was affiliated with the Armenian Church and had been active in the Starr King Masonic Lodge in Salem for over 65 years. Whenever he had a chance he would try to brighten the days of other people with his positive "can do" attitude.
He is survived by two daughters Charlene Goshgarian and her husband Harry Goshgarian, PhD of Troy, MI and Joanne Hidirsah and her husband Armand of Andover; a sister Rose Marie Pellicio and her husband Albert of Peabody; four grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, and David Goshgarian and Christian Baret Hidirsah; a niece and two nephews Pamela Nicolosi, Mark and Paul Pellicio; and a great niece and two great nephews Mary, Michael and Luke.
He was predeceased by two sisters Mary and Isabel "Bette" Mooradian.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cur of North ST) Salem, to be followed by funeral services at 11:00 A.M. in St Gregory's Armenian Apostolic Church of Merrimack Valley, 158 Main St., North Andover, MA 01845. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
