Peter G. Burns (83), of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday September 3, 2023, at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge with family by his side. Born in Lynn, Peter was the son of the late Lois (Gould) and Richard Burns.
After attending Marblehead High School, Peter was a Sergeant in the Army Reserves. He later graduated from Mass Art and went onto attend Harvard University. As he was a talented artist, he used his skills to design Coffee Connections. Peter developed his skills and found his true passion when working at the Harvard Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology as a researcher in the zoo archaeology lab.
Outside of his work, Peter was an avid gardener, and he held the position of manager at the Charles River Community Garden. Above all, he will be remembered for his commitment to his family and friends around him.
Peter is survived by his wife Helene Regen of Calabasas, CA and her 9 grandchildren; his sister Marion Keating and her husband Michael of Marblehead; his nephew Jason Conrad and his wife Jacqui; his niece Brianna Keating; and his great niece and nephew Emma and Liam Conrad. Peter is predeceased by his brother Paul "Motor" Burns.
Memorial visiting hours will take place on Wednesday September 13, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal St. Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wolf Hollow 114 Essex Rd Ipswich, MA 01938 in memory of his beloved wolf dog, Tala.
