Paul V. Nelson age 62 of Salem died unexpectedly in Beverly Hospital on Saturday December 29, 2012.
Born in Salem the son of the late Clarence and Beatrice ( Dorval) Nelson, Jr. he was raised and educated in Salem Schools. In his youth he sold newspapers for several years intersection of Washington and Bridge Streets. Following his graduation from Salem High School, Mr. Nelson joined the United States Navy and proudly served the country.
Following his discharge, Mr. Nelson had had been employed at Stop and Shop in Lynn, and worked in the landscaping business with his father in law, Charles Wilkins for many years.
An athletic person ,he enjoyed swimming, biking, and racquetball. Music always made him happy and he was glad to sing songs for an audience while playing the guitar, or other string harmonic instruments. He also loved to play chess and go to yard sales.
Mr. Nelson is survived by a daughter and two grandchildren, Tammy and her husband Jason Cook and their children Samantha and Zachary; a twin brother, Richard Nelson of Lynn and a sister Linda Ackerman of Salem and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Jacqueline Johnson, Sharon Collins, and Claire Brown and two brothers Ralph and Gerald Nelson.
His funeral will be held on Monday, Janurary 7, 2013 at 10:15 from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (corner of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St James Church 156 Federal St Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
