Patricia J. (O'Neil) Rude, age 76,beloved wife for 51 years of retired T.W.A Captain James A. Rude, died Wednesday afternoon in the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in Swampscott.
Born in Roxbury, the daughter of the late John and Bernice (Harrison) O'Neil she was raised and educated in Salem. Following her graduation from Ste. Chretienne Academy, Mr. Rude became a dental hygienist. Mrs. Rude later became employed by T.W.A Airlines as a hostess until marrying her husband in 1956. She was a good friend to many and stayed active with T.W.A through the Clipped Wings Club for retired employees.
A stay at home mom, she was involved in her children's activities. Mrs. Rude was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining as well as traveling the world with her husband and family. She was an active member of the Boston Yacht Club and enjoyed boating with her husband and family, most recently aboard their sailboat, "Footloose". Since 1980 they have wintered in Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Rude is survived by two children Jon "Jason" Rude of Concord, MA and Robin Rude of Marblehead; two sisters in law Lorraine Thompson of Sitka, Alaska and Audrey Gilbert of Annapolis, MD; a brother in law Donald Rude, MD of Yakima, Washington and two cousins Dorothy Harrison of Liberty, Maine and Chief Master Sergeant Alfred Harrison, U.S Air Force, Retried of Johnson City, Texas.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday Jan 2, 2008 at 10:30 A.M from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St.) Salem to be followed by funeral services at 11:00 A.M. in the Clifton Lutheran Church, 150 Humphrey St., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning before the funeral from 9:00A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Building Fund of the Clifton Lutheran Church, 150 Humphrey St., Marblehead, MA 01945 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
