Obituary

Patricia Davern was born on September 25, 1929, in Salem MA and died on October 3, 2024.

Pat grew up in Salem and Marblehead, where she was always surrounded by family and friends.  Pat was a competitive sailor out of the Boston Yacht club, racing a Town Class for more than 13 years.

After graduating from Saint Mary's High School in Lynn, Garland Junior College in Boston and Syracuse University, Pat met her future life-long soul mate, Timothy James Davern, Esq.  On the evening they met, Tim told his Father that he had just met the girl he was going to marry!

Pat and Tim had four children in four years, and Pat never stopped inspiring them to be the best version of themselves.  She was always their biggest fan.

Pat's children describe her as an angel of kindness and compassion for everyone around her, a fearless advocate for all, an avid Boston sports fan, someone who would never, ever give up and a person of great faith.

Pat became a successful Realtor on the North Shore, winning the hearts of many.  She always gave of herself, working tirelessly when she saw someone in need, collecting coats for students at North Shore Community College and toys for children in the hospital at Christmas.

Pat was a devout Catholic who served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. John the Evangelist in Swampscott, attending Mass daily and frequently bringing the Eucharist to the homebound.  Pat traveled on a pilgrimage to Medjugore, and she continually inspired others with her faith.

Pat's strong faith, love of family, strength, resilience and service to others shined through every day of her life.  She led by example, with determination, and taught her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to pursue what they believe in with passion, to never give up, always have faith that God Loves them, give to others in need and be there for each other.

Pat leaves behind her four children, Nancy Payne; Mary MacDonald and her husband, Robert; Timothy Davern, M.D., and his wife Lori; and William Davern and his wife Marta, as well as five grandchildren – Antony Payne and his wife, Lauren; Collin MacDonald; Salem Davern; Nikola Davern; and Gabriella Davern – two great grandchildren, Harper and Phoenix Payne and her sister, Nancy Ryan, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
