IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pamela Jill
Hurley
July 13, 1943 – February 11, 2019
On Monday February 11, 2019, Pamela (Robinson) Hurley made a peaceful transition at Beverly Hospital. Pam was the eldest daughter of Marjorie (Sanville) and Wilfred Robinson, both deceased and both long-time residents of North Shore.
Born in 1943 in Lynn, Pam started her schooling in Lynn, but when she was nine, the family relocated to the home on Main Street in Lynnfield Centre that her parents Bill and Marge had had built in 1952. She graduated from Lynnfield High School and about this time she met the love of her life, Robert Hurley Sr., who was attending Boston College. They got married and eventually moved to Suitland, Maryland so her husband could attend Georgetown Law School. They had two children, Robert Hurley, Jr. and Daniel Hurley. While Robert Sr. was working in insurance adjustment and finishing his legal studies, Pam and her children shared a lot of time with her cousin Chuck Headley's family. Pam and Betty, Chuck's wife, would take their five children (Rob, Dan, Chuck Jr., Scott, and Jim) for family play dates and outings. Pam referred to Chuck as the brother we never had. After Robert Sr. passed the law exam, they chose to move to California to advance her husband's career and to raise their children in Riverside County.
In the 1980's after experiencing health challenges, Pamela returned home to North Shore and lived in Beverly the rest of her life, with her sons eventually joining her, residing nearby. Her companion for many of these years was Gerald Foley of Wakefield.
Throughout her working life, Pamela was an office manager at multiple million dollar construction companies wherever the family was located. She was a valued employee and appreciated by all for she saw everyone as equal, treating crew, staff, and supervisors with respect, humor, and dignity. She had a sharp business mind and fine computation skills, needed assets when bidding and contracting out work. She often was seen on site carrying a clipboard, wearing her pink hard hat, the one that had been gifted to her by her crew.
Pam was an extrovert, interested in others, so her last years at Care One Essex Park were content. Regardless of circumstances, she chose to be an optimist...seeing the good in people and in her life. She will be dearly missed by all she encountered. Pam's caring and inquisitive nature touched many...her former co-workers, her friends, her neighbors, and her family. She will be especially remembered for her gentle and loving nature as a wife, mother, and doting grand and great grandmother.
Pam leaves behind her sister Wendy Robinson, her cousin/"brother" Chuck Headley and his wife Betty, her eldest son Robert Hurley Jr. and his wife Lisa, her younger son Daniel Hurley Sr., her grandson Daniel Hurley Jr., her granddaughter Saleena Marchand, her granddaughter Emily Snow and great grandson Hudson Snow.
