IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Pamela Jean Amaral
September 14th 1959- April 27th 2019
Pamela Jean Amaral, of Gloucester, MA, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 27th, after a long battle with cancer. Born and raised in Gloucester, she was the daughter of Marlene Frost and the late Robert Augustus Carignan.
Pamela graduated Gloucester High School and then went on to study graphic design, which was much more exciting and complicated in an era before Photoshop. She was extremely versatile and creative and worked in a variety of fields during her life, but her favorite was definitely running her own entrepreneurial businesses that had purpose and meaning. Whether it was her cleaning business or her consignment clothing store, Kid's Closet, she always loved being her own boss and watching her ventures blossom and thrive. Sacred Circles, which she opened on Main Street in Gloucester, was a dream of hers for a long time- she loved helping people and fostering spiritual and personal healing. She was an extraordinarily compassionate friend, daughter, and mother.
Pamela married Tom Darcy, her first love, not long after graduating high school. He was a beloved musician and veteran of the Vietnam war. They separated, but always remained family. She later moved to Hawaii to study graphic arts, where she met Fred Stanton, the father of her child. In 1995, she gave birth to Tessah, who she always referred to as her heart. She returned to Gloucester to raise her child, bringing her friend Gail Paynotta with her, who soon became as close as family. Pamela later married Stephen Amaral, who served on the Gloucester police force.
She is survived by her daughter, Tessah Stanton of Gloucester, her mother, Marlene Frost, and her siblings: Michelle Gaynor, Susan Kirvan, and Matthew Carignan, as well as her soul sister Gail Paynotta. She is also survived by her nephews, Mitchell and LeRoy Gaynor, Brian LeVie, Matthew Carignan Jr., and Elias Carignan. Jake, her loving dog, misses her every day.
Pamela was predeceased by her brother, Brian Carignan, her first love, Tom Darcy, and her husband, Stephen Amaral.
Funeral services are private per the wishes of Pamela and her family, but a public celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 4th, 11 am-4 pm, at her shop Sacred Circles, 263 Main Street in Gloucester. We encourage everyone to bring pictures, poems, songs, and joyful memories. Food will be provided, and a speaker will share a few words at 1 pm. Afterwards, we invite anyone else would like to speak to share their memories and love of Pamela .
We would like to thank the nurses of Care Dimensions, who were a great comfort and help to us. Bob Clocher, of Murphy's Funeral Home, was an invaluable resource, guide, and was also a wonderful friend of Pamela.
As per her wishes, there is a go fund me page to assist with her funeral arrangements and to aid her daughter, Tessah, through this difficult time. It can be found at:

"Great Spirit, calm the raging rivers,
Launch my canoe in quiet streams.
Don't let it drift in muddy waters
Or through this life of many dreams.
My people roamed the rolling prairie
To hunt the mighty buffalo.
Their time is past, as is their glory.
They beckon me, I'll gladly go.
Great Spirit, hear one of your people
As I approach the distant shore.
My feats I offer by the armfuls
To live with thee forever more.
I walked this land as you yourself did;
I did some deeds that brought me shame.
All these my faults that I myself hid
Without your help I can't reclaim.
Great Spirit, guide me on the pathway.
Hear this my earnest, heartfelt plea:
Judge by a heart that loved thee always,
Allow my soul to bide with thee."
