Palma F. (Iavolo) Dullea, age 85, formerly of Salem died at her Danvers home early Sunday morning surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert M. Dullea with whom she had shared 54 years of marriage.


Born in East Boston, the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Marion (Leczcyznski) Iavolo, Mrs. Dullea was raised in Peabody. After completing her education at Peabody High School she became a well known waitress on the North Shore. The restaurants she was employed in included the former Howard Johnsons on Bridge St., Salem and Joe Gallo's on Front Street Salem which later became known as the Beef and Oyster House.


Active with the Disabled American Veteran's in Salem with her late husband, Mrs. Dullea enjoyed bowling, singing and writing poetry.
A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she is survived by five children Robert K. Dullea and his wife Jeanne of Niantic, CT., Carl D. Dullea of Danvers, David M. Dullea and his wife Rita, Deanna P. Romsavich and her husband Robert and Palma E. Smiarowski and her husband John all of Danvers; a brother Joseph M. Iavolo of Memphis, TN; a sister Blanche Devaney of Naples, FL; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including Donald P.H. Eaton of Oregon, who she treated like a son and her dear friends and neighbors Bruce and Linda Collins of Danvers who helped to care for her.


She was predeceased by a former daughter in law Jean (Venezia) (Dullea) Greroire ; a brother Robert Iavolo and a sister Constance Calo; a grandson David John Dullea and a great grandson Jacob DeMeis-Dullea.


Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St, Peabody, on the Salem Peabody Line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
