Obituary

Norman Sherwood, son of the late Philip and Phyllis Sherwood, died suddenly in Venice Florida on January 4 leaving his beloved wife of 52 years, Chris (Williams) Sherwood , his daughter Barb Silva and her husband Steve of Alpharetta, GA, and his son Norman Sherwood Jr and his wife Melissa of
Marblehead. Norman was born and raised during his early years in Saugus, MA. Following his
graduation from Marblehead High School, Norman enlisted in the US Navy where he spent four active years on the U.S.S Essex – CVS-9 Aircraft Carrier and two years in the Navy reserves.

Norman resided in Marblehead for much of his adult years where he was active in the lives of his family
and in his community. He retired as Captain of the Marblehead Fire Department in 1996 and was a
life-long member of the Gerry V VFA. Norm loved his Red Sox. Following his retirement, he and his
wife moved to Wakefield, NH where they rebuilt, and refurbished a beautiful home on Pine River Pond.

Norm was a family man – his wife, his children and his grandchildren were the lights in his life.
Granddaughters Chelsea, Kylie, Maeve and Tegan brought him such delight. He shared all their life experiences with them. They worshipped their "Dunk."

After moving to Venice, FL in 2011, his greatest joys were spending time with Chris, fishing, playing golf, throwing the bumper for his beloved dog Ava at the beach and most of all – his softball team.

Norman also leaves behind his sister, Linda Comeau of Venice, FL, his sister Karen Edelstein and her husband Eliot of Venice, FL, his brother Chuck and wife Judie of Cary, NC, sister-in law Sally Doane and her companion Ed Mace of Salem, MA, brother-in-law Robert Williams and his wife Pam of Marblehead MA, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at Murphy Funeral Home in Salem, MA on Thursday January 14th from 3PM-7PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday January 15th at 10AM followed by a burial at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead MA at 11AM.
