IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nora Patricia
Finch
March 19, 1927 – December 13, 2019
Nora Patricia "Pat" Finch (ne: Dorling) 92, of Marblehead, passed from this life peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 13, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born in London, England on March 19, 1927, she was one of seven children of the late Thomas and Amy (ne: Holloway) Dorling.
In 1949, she married her childhood sweetheart, William Albert Finch with whom she shared the next 65 years. She and Bill were long-time members of Clifton Lutheran Church in Marblehead and she was involved with the Church's Ladies Guild, Vacation Bible School as a teacher and volunteered at the Marblehead Thrift Shop and My Brother's Table in Salem. Growing up during the depression, Pat knew what it was like to live "without". Throughout her life, Pat and Bill supported causes that helped those less fortunate than themselves, believing that sharing their blessings with others was what was important in life.
Raised and educated in Dagenham, England, Pat was a WWII veteran, serving in his Majesty's Armed Forces in the Woman's Air Corps (WACS) working the anti-aircraft guns on the English coast and driving a prisoner transport. After the war, Pat and Bill immigrated to Toronto, Canada and then to Marblehead, where they both became US Citizens. Pat raised her six children with Bill in Marblehead as a stay-at-home mom. Once her last child was in school, Pat became a clerk at Eaton's Apothecary in Clifton for over a decade.
A long-time resident of Marblehead, she loved joining Bill and their children at the beach, walking around the Marblehead Lighthouse and entertaining family and friends. Her custard pie was legendary.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Albert "Bill" Finch, her parents Tom and Amy Dorling, three sisters Doris, Lily and Elsie, brother Albert and a niece, Claire, all of London, England, as well as her beloved grandson Brandon Finch of Marblehead.
