Pellegrini
February 27, 1921 – August 15, 2018
Nicholas Pellegrini, a long-time resident of Salem, died at his residence, Brightview Senior Living, in Danvers at the age of 97. He was the husband of Isabelle "Billie" Slizgi Pellegrini, who predeceased him in 1983. He was born in the province of Chieti in Abruzzi, Italy and was the son of Florindo and Teresa Pellegrini. He immigrated to the United States in 1930 at the age of nine and settled with his parents in the North End of Boston. He graduated from English High School and Wentworth Institute in Boston. He served for three years in World War II, with two years in Africa and Italy in the 12th and 15th Airforce. He was honorably discharged with two battle stars. He worked at General Electric, Jet Propulsion Division, for over thirty-five years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of IUE-CIO, and was an active member of the Salem YMCA all of his life. He enjoyed taking long bike rides. He read two newspapers a day to stay current on world events, and was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. In his retirement, he enjoyed cooking, socializing with other retirees of GE, and attending social events at the Wonderland Ballroom. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was always eager to help his family in any way that he could. He will be deeply missed, and his love and legacy will live on forever.
He is survived by his four sons: Paul, and his wife Lisa; Mark, and his wife Sylvia; Robert, and his wife Marilyn; Jeffrey, and his wife Amy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three step grandchildren, Christina Pellegrini Caravalho and her husband Joe; Drew Pellegrini; Alexa Pellegrini; Nicholas Pellegrini and his fiancée Nicole Finneran; Christopher Pellegrini; Paige Pellegrini; Cole Pellegrini; James Lindsay and his wife Alejandre; Alexia Lindsay Beaulieu, and her husband Joe; Andrew Lindsay and his wife Stephanie.
To respect Mr. Pellegrini's wishes, funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Murphy Funeral Home, Salem, MA.
