Neal David Murphy, age 71, beloved husband of Doris (Lamarre) Murphy for 51 years, passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Neal was a lifelong resident of Salem; born August 13, 1951, to James and Gladys (Brusso) Murphy.  He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Lynn and Bryant & Stratton College, Boston. Neal retired as landscape/maintenance associate from Turtle Creek, Beverly in 2016 and was formerly employed by Cressey Dockham.

Neal treasured time spent with family and was always proud to share photos and news of his sons and their families.  He spent many happy hours with the friends in his lifelong closeknit "extension" neighborhood and taking meticulous care of his yard.  In retirement, Olde Salem Greens was a favorite place to spend time working on and discussing the game with his golf buddies. Dining out, whether frequent haunts or trying new restaurants was a regular activity he and Doris shared with their closest friends Joe and Roberta D'Angelo. Beaches were always Neal and Doris' preferred vacation destinations most often visiting Aruba and Southern Maine.   In addition to Doris, Neal is survived by his sons and their families, Ross and Kristen Murphy of Attleboro; Jeffrey and Emma Murphy of Milford; grandchildren Declan, Brynne, Claire and Brooke; sister Dorothy (Murphy) Pecce and brother Mark Murphy; and his dear in-laws. He is also survived by many treasured friends, who were so supportive to Neal and his family during his recent illness.

Arrangements: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, 3-6 pm.  The funeral service will be Monday, March 20, 2023, at 11 am. All services will take place at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, MA 01970.
