Navart (Arsenian) Svoboda, age 93 wife of the late Marin Svoboda, died in Union Hospital Wednesday morning, January 5, 2011.
Born in Turkey the daughter of the late Garabed and Armenuhi (Yaziciyan) Arsenian, she emigrated to Roumania at the age of three. Mrs. Svoboda quickly learned and mastered her new language and as a young child became a translator for others seeking refuge from Turkey. She was also an accomplished seamstress, well known for her meticulous and dedicated handwork.
Later in life when she moved to the United States and settled in Lynn, she worked locally manufacturing hand bags.
Mrs. Svoboda is survived by a daughter Hermina Svoboda of Lynn, a daughter in law Mary Svoboda of Danvers and two grandchildren Robert Svoboda of Atlanta, GA and Kelly Cison of Chicago, Il.
She was predeceased by a son Alexander Svoboda and a sister Siran Blanaru and a grandson Brad Svoboda.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 10 at 11:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00PM . Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery Salem.
