Nancy E. "Nana" (Tompkins ) Welch age 80, of West Newbury, formerly of Danvers, wife of the late Charles Francis Welch, died in the Masconomet Health Care Center, Sunday evening, October 27, 2013 with family by her side.
Born in Peabody the daughter of the late Woodbury and Dorothea (Burkinshaw) Tompkins, was raised and educated in Beverly. She moved to Danvers where she raised her family and made her home for many years. She was employed by Hotwatt in Danvers for over 26 years. Following retirement Nancy lived out the remainder of her life in West Newbury.
Mrs. Welch is survived by five children, Francis Welch of Beverly, Cheryl Ventola and her husband Stephen of Melrose, Michael Welch and Richard Welch both of Beverly and Mary Kemper and her husband Glenn of West Newbury; a sister Karen Hancock of Salem and six grandchildren, Allassandra, Michael and Antonia Ventola, Tawnie Gobeil, and Joshua and Olivia Kemper.
She was predeceased by a son, John Welch, a brother, Woodbury Tompkins and three sisters, Jackie Tompkins, June Keck and Beverly Klock.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, corner of North St, Salem to be followed by a funeral services at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Masconomet Health Care Center Resident Council 123 High Street Topsfield, Massachusetts in memory of Nancy Welch.
