Morgan died tragically after a many year battle with substance abuse in Tucson, Arizona, on January 11, 2020. She was born Nathan Thomas Murphy to Marianne (Parisi) Sulton and Walter Murphy, Jr. during the blizzard of 78. In fact, Morgan's legal birthday is even incorrect as during the havoc of the blizzard the date was recorded as the 7th not the 8th and no one ever fixed it.
Morgan grew up in Gloucester, where she attended school and North Shore Tech then in Middleton in the mid 1990s. She first studied art in college in Worcester in 2000-2002 and would continue her artistic expression throughout her life. She went on to receive a certificate in small engine repair after completing an intensive one year program in Rhode Island in 2003. She additionally was awarded an associate of science degree in substance abuse counseling in 2010 from NSCC and went on to UMass, Boston in a BA/MA program in community development with a focus on substance abuse. Unfortunately her own struggles with addiction made her unable to complete these studies.
Morgan was also a musician and played sax in addition to bass guitar but her first love was for machines be it
old cars, Vespa scooters or bicycles, she produced some very creative custom machines that she rode with reckless abandon. She was active in many Vespa and scooter groups, especially in Nova Scotia, where she and her former wife, Annalyssa Gypsy Murphy were married in 2002, had a summer home and where her middle daughter was born.
Morgan's and Gypsy's children, Rhiannon Alexandra, Molly Saoirse, and Lily Emerson were the light of her life. Her generosity to others, her loving spirit and sharp wit will deeply missed by all.
She is survived by her children, her former wife, her parents, former mother in law, Mari Anita Waters with whom she shared a close bond, former stepmothers Pam (mother of Stephen) Kathi (mother of Falon, Crystal, Chelsea, Patience and Liz) and currently Patty Murphy, and grandmother Doris Helen Murphy (Fosberry); step-brother Stephen Morong; step-sisters, Falon Willey (Candice); Crystal Hare; half-sisters Chelsea Prive (Matt); Patience Murphy; Liz Murphy (Diane); also many former in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins and her companion Terry Deane. She was preceded by a son, Max Thomas Murphy; step-father Captain Robert Sulton; grandparents Walter "Putt" Murphy, Mike and Jennie Parisi; uncles Jimmy Parisi and Peter Murphy; cousin Wayne Jackson.
As per Morgan's request, an Irish style wake/celebration of her life (no alcohol or drugs please) will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, Massachusetts, on Saturday January 25th from 1pm-5pm and at 4pm we will offer the opportunity for remarks, poems or stories to be shared by those who knew and loved Morgan.
Friends and family invited.
