Mona C. (Peterson) Whipple, age 95, formerly of Bradford, Ct., Marblehead, wife of the late James Whipple of Marblehead died Tuesday morning, January 29, in the Jewish Rehabilitation Center, Swampscott.

Born in Winthrop, MA the daughter of the late Svante and Christina (Sandstedt) Peterson, she was raised by an uncle following the untimely and early death of her parents.

A graduate of Brookline High School, Mrs. Whipple married and later settled in Marblehead where she was active in the community and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by a daughter in law Kathryn Whipple, R.N., of Marblehead; three grandchildren John Whipple and his wife Amy of Marblehead, Christian Whipple and his wife Larisa of Sonoma, CA, and Andrew Whipple of Boston and two great grandchildren Jack John and Theodore Whipple of Marblehead.

She was predeceased by a son Attorney John Aldrich Whipple.

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 7, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Michael's Church, 26 Pleasant St., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At the family's request there are no visiting hours. Interment will be private.
