Salem…….
Mildred Weiss, age 91, a longtime Salem resident, who summered in Montville, Maine, died Friday evening, June 5th in the Lafayette Nursing Home.
She was born in Brookline, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Lillian Ethel (Marquis) Weiss. Following her education, Miss Weiss was employed by General Electric for many years as a draftsperson, until her retirement. Mildred developed into a woman with a lot of spunk who was very proactive, with a community minded spirit. Although she had many causes she fought for, her two favorites had a common theme of protection. This included caring for battered women as well as establishing and maintaining animal rights.
She is survived by two nieces, Deborah Crowle of Danbury, CT and Paula Babolia of North Salem, NY; a great niece Lisa Dowling Fuller of St Pete Beach, FL and a great nephew Charles P Bobolia of North Salem, NY.
Private funeral services are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. Salem. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
