Michael James O'Connell

SALEM – Michael J. O’Connell, age 65, passed on Friday, May 22, 2026, at his residence. Born in Melrose, he was the son of the late Sally (Brault) LeBlanc and the late Edward J. O’Connell, Jr. Michael was a graduate of Salem High School. He graduated from North Shore Community College with his associates degree and continued his education graduating from Salem State with his bachelor’s degree.

Michael was employed as a medical courier for many years. Michael loved music and enjoyed playing guitar. He was a kind soul.

He is survived by his two sisters, Susanne Woodson of Peabody and Kathleen James of Topsfield. He is also survived by aunts & uncle; Carol Foley, Regina Merrill, Michele Donohue & Richard O'Connell. He leaves behind many close cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 11 am at Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne St, Salem. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please meet at main gate of cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem.
