Michael Edward Gallagher (69), of Salem, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday August 29, 2023, after a long illness. Born in Salem, Michael was the son of the late Emma (St. Jean) and George Gallagher.

Michael attended Salem High School and later went onto attend North Shore Community College. Shortly after that time, Michael met the love of his life Catherine where they went onto get married in 1974. They moved to Beverly before moving back to Salem where they would raise their family and make cherished memories.

Michael was a part owner of M&M Installations for 25 years where they served the greater North Shore Community. Outside of his work, he enjoyed working out and even obtained his certificate in personal training. Later in life, Michael enjoyed refurbishing old speakers and enjoyed listening to music. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and was an avid camper for 40 years and loved vacationing in Aruba. He cherished the time he spent with his grandson. He will be remembered as a proud papa, and a loving and committed husband to his family.

Michael is survived by his wife of 48 years Catherine Gallagher of Salem, his son Matthew Gallagher and his wife Suzanne of Beverly, his sister Elise Altergott of Mt Airu, MD, his grandson Thomas Gallagher of Beverly, and several nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by his sister Mary Atwood and her husband Robert, his brother Peter Gallagher and his wife Jackie, and his brother-in-law, Harvey Altergott.
