Michael Bezis, age 90, husband of the late Muriel (Rouse) Bezis of Danvers, formerly of Medford died at home Tuesday evening.

Born in Salem the son of the late Spiros and Canella (Caron) Bezis, the family lived over their restaurant, the Olympia until the land was taken to make way for the Salem Post Office in Riley Plaza The family then moved to Medford where he graduated from Medford High School. An avid football player, he later played semi pro football for the Medford Red Skins. Mr. Bezis was also enjoyed baseball and basketball.

During World War II Mr. Bezis was a welder in the Charlestown Navy Yard. Later, he was employed by the Pickering Oil Company as both a Salesman and Bookkeeper with his late wife.

He is survived by two stepchildren Susan Grant-Romaine of Salem New Hampshire and Jonathan Richardson of Tewksbury; a brother Charles Bezis of Jamaica Plain formerly of Medford, his nieces Cheryl Bezis of Jamaica Plain and Barbara Driscoll of Medford and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons Michael Bezis, Jr and Ronald Bezis and a step son George "Micky" Walker.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 12:30P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be immediately before the services from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Mass.
