Marblehead……..

Maryre (Abbott) Moran, age 83 wife of retired Salem Police Detective John Moran died at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home Sunday morning.

Daughter of the late Sea Captain David S. and his wife Lorna Doone (Crocker) Abbott, she was born in Forbes Point, Nova Scotia, where she had attended elementary school. Her family moved to Marblehead in the early 1940's where Mrs. Moran graduated from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1945. She then attended the Academy Modern, met and married her husband and they began their family.

For many years she was a stay at home mom and later became a Real Estate Broker on the North Shore. More recently she had been a volunteer at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital gift shop for over 20 years. An avid bowler, she enjoyed the theater, Devereux Beach and the beauty of Marblehead.
Fiercely independent and brave, she will be missed by all who knew her.

A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Moran is also survived by two children, David Abbott Moran of Salem and Denise Moran McGinn and her husband Mark McGinn of Danvers; two grandchildren Sean and Adam McGinn of Danvers; a brother Bud Abbott; and many nieces and nephews including Donna Slack of New Hampshire.

She was predeceased by a daughter Mary Deanne Moran and two sisters Dorothy Marble and Betty Church.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
