Matthew Gonzalez, affectionately known as Matt or Matty Boy, was born on November 19, 1985, in Passaic, New Jersey, and passed away on October 9, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts.
If you knew Matt, you knew kindness, love, happiness, and jokes. He was charismatic, full of life, and had a rare gift for turning strangers into genuine friends within minutes. His warm spirit, infectious personality, and quick wit made him unforgettable to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Matt had a heart full of love for his family and friends. He embodied the perfect blend of humor, wit, and sarcasm, bringing laughter to even the simplest or sometimes the hardest of moments. His presence had a way of making people feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved. He could turn an ordinary moment into a memorable one, and his sarcasm and humor brought light into every space he entered.
Matt's life was a reminder not to take everything so seriously, to find joy in the little things, to show kindness whenever possible, and to cherish the people who matter most whenever possible. His ability to connect with others and bring happiness into their lives was a gift that will continue to live on through the memories he leaves behind.
To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his loving grandmother Isabel Polanco, mother, Emerida Gonzalez; stepfather, Ephraim Ortiz; sisters, Gloria Gonzalez and Maria Santiago; sister-in-law, Arlene Vasquez; beloved children, Justin Santos and Leemaya Brown; niece, Haileen Pozo; and nephew, Tyire Platt. He also leaves behind an extended family throughout New Jersey, New York, and the Dominican Republic, along with countless friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.
Though Matt's time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the jokes he shared, and the friendships he created will never be forgotten. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
In Matt's honor, be helpful, lead with kindness, share a laugh, and remember that “nothing is ever that serious.”
Rest peacefully, Matt. You will be missed immensely, loved endlessly, and remembered always. The light you brought into every space you stepped into will never fade. For more information and online guestbook, please call the Murphy Funeral Home at 978-744-0497 or visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com.
