Maryan Surman, 98, of Boston. Passed on 5-9-2019 at the Brockton VA hospital. She was a proud Vet, nurse, midwife, traveled widely working as a nurse on the Ship Hope. She earned a Bachelor of Archeology degree at Salem State College, and her Masters of midwifery at Boston University. She was a teacher for student nurses throughout her career. She was a tour guide at the Salem museum. At 68 she left nursing and became an archaeologist. She was always learning. In her early 90's she was assisting teaching Chinese and learning Arabic. She is Preceded by sister Peggy Miles, cousins Audrey Ouellette, Ellen Niewold. She is survived by cousin Lori Ouellette ( children Heather Martin, Briana Weaver, Steven Devereaux), Bill and Chris Ouellette ( children Wm Jr, Scott ), Kathy Mulgrew and her husband Mike from Pennsylvania, ( children Katelyn Haven, Daniel Belleau). nieces and nephew Ellen, Maggie and Dan Miles. She lived a full life of service and adventure.She was interred at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
