Mary (Marie) P. Schlegel, beloved wife of Niles M. Schlegel for 62 years, passed away December 12, 2015 due to a rapid illness. Daughter of Peter and Ann (Halloran) McIntyre; mother of Deborah A. DeBenedictis [Tony] of West Roxbury, MA, and Peter N. Schlegel of New York, NY; sister of Barbara Sullivan [John], predeceased by brother James P. McIntyre [Monica] and sister Anne Leahy; grandmother to Pauline M. Maietta, Dominique A. (Maietta) Trappey [Francois], Vincent J. Maietta, Anne H. Maietta, Luke N. Maietta, Andrew P. Schlegel, Lucy F. Schlegel and Nicholas H. Schlegel.
Born January 29, 1933 in Malden, MA. Resided in Weston, Wayland, and Peabody, MA. Educated at Girls Catholic in Malden. Employed by Metropolitan Life and Teledyne, Inc. Marie was deeply involved with the welfare of children and served in childcare at St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Newton. Marie was dedicated to her family, an interactive and beloved member of the community at Brooksby Village, and was often escorted by her poodle, Cooky.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to celebrate a funeral mass at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 19th at St. Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Rd, Weston, MA followed by interment nearby. The wake will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, December 18th at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, (cor of North St)Salem, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, MA or the Department of Surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA.
