Of Peabody, Mary R. (Roomian) Karchakian, age 88, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Misaq and Hegina Roomian. She was raised in Saco Maine where she graduated from Thorton Academy. Mrs. Karchakian started working at a young age to help support her family. She met her husband Isaac at an Armenian Picnic and married soon after. They resided in Peabody for many years.
Mrs. Karchakian was an avid bowler, and enjoyed candlepin bowling at Metro Bowl in Peabody where she was on a team. She enjoyed traveling having many adventures that took her to California, Hawaii, Italy, Washington DC, and Florida. She had enjoyed wintering in Marco Island for many years. Her greatest enjoyment was entertaining and being surrounded by people. She had been a resident of Brooksby Village for several years and was a big part of the Rummicube group that met twice a week.
Surviving her is her daughter, Linda C. Beaupre and her husband David of Berlin, VT, 3 grandchildren, Isaac and Justin Beaupre and Michele O'Day and her husband Tim and one great grandson Harrison O'Day. She was also the Mother of the late Alan David Karchakian, sister of the late John and Jack Roomian and aunt of the late Janice Ciano.
Memorial Services will be held at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody on Friday June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial was held privately.
