Mary J. (Conti) Pizzo age 90, of Salem, wife of the late Anthony A. Pizzo, Sr. died in the Harborside Cedar Glen Nursing Home Sunday evening.
A lifelong resident of Salem, she was born in Salem the daughter of the late Francesco and Nunziata (LaBruno) Conti and had been educated in Salem Schools. Mrs. Pizzo had been employed by Salem Hospital in the Laundry Department until becoming employed by the food service department of Sylvania. Later she was employed by Rich's Department store for many years until her retirement.
A devoted homemaker she enjoyed caring for her family and sewing.
Mrs. Pizzo is survived by three sons Frank S. Pizzo and his wife Arlene of Essex, John L Pizzo of Rochester, NH and Anthony A Pizzo of Tampa, FL; two daughters Jane A. Sherwood and her husband Tom of Beverly, and Lora Beaulieu and her husband Dennis of Spring Heights, NJ; a brother Umberto Conti of Plaistow, NH; 7 grandchildren Carrie Curley of Rowley, Holly George of Beverly, Jason Beaulieu of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, Steven Pizzo of Gloucester, Frank Pizzo Jr. of Essex, Scott Pizzo and Gia Pizzo both of Peabody; many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers Salvatore Conti, Attilio Conti and Francis Conti and one grandchild John Pizzo.
Her funeral will be held of Thursday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. James Church. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
