Mary Catherine O'Neil, age 84, a resident of Brooksby Village in Peabody, died at home early Friday morning, November 5, 2010.

Born in Salem the daughter of the late James and Mary (Delaney) O'Neil, she was raised and educated in Salem Schools, graduating from Salem High School the Class of 1942. Miss O'Neil then became employed by New England Telephone in Salem and Gloucester as a Supervisor for over 20 years. She then became the Assistant Treasurer at the Beverly Savings Bank and managed the Life Insurance Department. She was also a graduate of Salem State University, Class of 1992.

Miss O'Neil was very active in the community with Angel Flight of New England, the Good Friday Walk in Beverly, the Saint Vincent DePaul Society at St. John Evangelist in Beverly, and Senior Care Inc.

Miss O'Neil is survived by a brother Richard and his wife Marie O'Neil of Peabody; a sister in law Alyce O'Neil of Portsmouth, NH; two nieces Catherine O'Neil of Reston, VA and Ann Hall of Gloucester; two nephews James O'Neil of Ipswich and Sean O'Neil of Portsmouth, NH and several grand nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers James, John and William O'Neil.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST (cor of North ST) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 290 North St., Salem on the Salem Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M in the funeral home.
