Mary E. (Moffitt) Wedgwood, age 85, a longtime resident of Hamilton, more recently of Enon Village in Wenham and Sunrise at Gardner Park, Peabody, entered into eternal life from the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, on Monday, February 8, 2010.

Born and raised in Altoona, PA the daughter of the late Charles William and Beatrice Jeannette (Shellenberger) Moffitt, she attended local schools and was graduated from Altona high school in the Class of 1942. Mrs. Wedgwood then attended business school in Pittsburg, PA and was employed by Bell Telephone Co. of PA. Moved to MA and worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph. After marrying, she settled in Hamilton, MA where she raised her family and became a parishioner of St Paul's Church and an active volunteer in her community. Mary worked in the business office of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary for several years. Mary later returned to Verizon until her retirement where she had more than 25 years of employment, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She was a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan as well as a member of the Pokeno club known as the "Yellow Birds" for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Lay Carmelite Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which is also known as the Third Order of Mt. Carmel.

Mrs. Wedgwood is survived by four children, Jane Davis of Methuen, MA, John William Wedgwood and his partner George Yagow of Palm Springs, CA, Sandra E. Wedgwood and her partner Cheryl Jalbert of Beverly and Vicki Cozzolino and her husband Peter of Beverly; a brother C. William Moffitt and his wife Mary Lou of Altoona, PA; four grandchildren Billy and Danny Desjardins. Erin Davis and Christina Cozzolino; two great grandchildren Dorian and Sophia Desjardins and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister Martha Jane McDonald, a nephew Daniel McDonald and a son-in-law Kenneth Desjardins.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor of North ST) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. Paul's Church, Hamilton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be private.
