Obituary

Mary Ann (Manolian) MacCabe, a longtime resident of Salem, has passed away at the age of 71 with her children by her side. She was in the great care of Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers in her final days. Much to her chagrin, the cause of death was of the natural sort, and not orchestrated by any government official. Or was it…

Mary Ann was born in Boston on August 22, 1952 to her doting mother, Cecelia (Gibbons) Manolian and proud father, George Manolian. She was an extremely intelligent child, and her wit would carry with her for all of her years. She was courageous, outspoken, fierce, and kind. She loved everyone and treated no one better or worse than another. She worked hard for her children and would do anything for them. In her later years, with what little she had, she would still give to others, whether her last dime to a friend down on their luck, or a monthly contribution to the local shelter. Many knew Mary Ann as strong, determined and full of heart, and she will be missed dearly.

She leaves behind her eldest son, Aaron MacCabe of Amesbury, her daughter Rachel (MacCabe) McEntee & son-in-law Ryan McEntee of Franklin, and her grandchildren Bella & Dominic MacCabe of Lynn. She is predeceased by her brother, George Manolian, Jr., her youngest son, Zachary MacCabe, and her beloved service dog, Aeyou. She also leaves behind dear friends, notably Pastor Barbara Otto, as well as countless neighbors, aides, service workers, and a multitude of Salem locals who have treated her like family all these years. For you, we are forever grateful.

A memorial service and remembrance will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Murphy Funeral Home in Salem, MA. All are welcome.
