Marblehead
Mary C. (Lynch) Quinn, age 89, wife of the late Martin H. Quinn, formerly of Throggs Neck, NY and Greenwich, CT died at home in Marblehead following a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in New York City, the daughter of the late John and Irene (Devine) Lynch, her family settled in Throggs Neck when she was eight years old. Following her graduation from Cathedral High School in the Class of 1938 she became employed by Union Carbide in the Accounting Department. She and her late husband married in 1944 and settled in Greenwich, CT in 1954 where they raised their family.
An avid golfer with a great sense of humor Mrs. Quinn had been a member of the Tamarack Country Club as well as the Westchester Country Club. Her family would summer in the Hamptons where she was also a member of South Fork Country Club and the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
An avid swimmer, she enjoyed singing. Most of all she loved her family and being with her grandchildren who were always greeted with her welcoming, warm hugs and kisses. She was a woman of grace, joy and love. In her compassion for others, Mrs. Quinn had a joyful life of gratitude and always encouraged others to be good to themselves.
She is survived by a daughter Catherine Quinn and her husband Stephen Kauffman of Marblehead; three grandchildren Katie, Mary and Emily Kauffman all of Marblehead; her devoted caregiver and niece Mary Lynch of Marblehead as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons United States Navy Lt., Jg Martin Quinn and Arthur Quinn; three brothers Arthur F., Edward J. and James J. Lynch and a sister Irene L Hewitt.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday April 4, 2009 at 11:45 A.M. in St. Francis de Chantal 190 Hollywood Ave, Bronx, NY. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 2 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST (cor of North ST) Salem and Saturday April 4 from 11:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. in St. Francis de Chantal Church, (before her funeral Mass).
