Mary Riemer Keenan, aged 69, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2020. Born in Boston to Rita and Charles Riemer on Februaty 13, 1951, Mary spent her childhood with her brothers Kevin and Dennis in the Boston area. Mary went to the Mount Saint Joseph Academy for schooling, and after school spent many years as a book keeper and an office administrator. In 1995 Mary married her husband Gary Keenan, who she had 25 blissful years of marriage with.
Mary lived most of her adult life in Salem, MA, but she and Gary did eventually move out to the New Bedford area in recent years. Mary was known for her adoration of the Red Sox, and she truly felt that her life was complete when she saw them win the World Series in 2004. Mary will be remembered most for her big heart, and she was loved by many, including her family, but also those she worked with throughout the years. She loved animals, including her dogs and birds. She especially loved her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Gary Keenen of Salem, MA; her children Rosanna MacDonald Gangitano of Medway, MA; Maryanne MacDonald Langevin of New Bedford, MA; and Alicia MacDonald Arsenault of New Bedford, MA; her grandchildren Michael Arsenault, Sadie Langevin, Jenna Langevin, Hanna Langevin, Alyssa Langevin, Logan Langevin, Stephen Gangitano Jr., Matthew Gangitano, and Joseph Gangitano; and her great-grandchild Gabriel Hottel. Mary is also survived by her brother Kevin Riemer of Everett, MA. Mary is predeceased by her parents Rita Murphy Riemer and Charles Riemer, her brother Dennis Riemer and her beloved pets Fenway and Chauncey.
Visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal Street, Salem MA, on Monday December 28 th from 4 PM to 7 PM. Guests are reminded that we are following all social distancing protocols, including requiring all guests to be wearing face masks before entering our facility.
