Mary A. (Dragonas) Jones age 76 of Peabody, died after a brief illness Sunday afternoon, December 23 in Beverly Hospital. She and her late husband, George H. Jones, Sr. who died in 2005, had shared 55 years of marriage.


She was born, raised and educated in Salem the daughter of the late James and Gertrude ( Quinn) Dragonas. A devoted wife and mother she lived her life for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed old movies and the music of Frank Sinatra. Later in life she was employed by the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in Swampscott as an elderly companion.


Mrs. Jones is survived by seven children, George H. Jones, Jr. of Caribou, ME, Patricia A. Hall of Salem, Susan N. Key and her husband Robert W. Key of Long Island, NY, Jody A. Critcher and Kelly Barnes of Peabody, Stormy G. Jones of Danvers and Hope L. Jones of Peabody; a brother Dennis Dragonas and his wife Denise of Danvers; 19 grandchildren; George, John, Josh, and Jessie Jones, Kendra Carson, Jamie and William Dragon, Christopher Hall, William and Kerri O'Neil, Karen Foissett, Jennifer Critcher, Jacob and Jeremy Birmingham, Raymond and Joseph Barnes, Zachary Angle, Karissa Jones and Jennifer Key; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


Her funeral will be held on Friday Dec28th at 11:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting ours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
