Mary (Vorgeas) Gregory, age 89, loving wife for over 50 years of the deceased Thomas Gregory died on March 18 at Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital following a brief illness.


She was born in Peabody and raised in Peabody, the daughter of the late John Vorgeas and Despina (Prokopis) Vorgeas. . Following her graduation from Peabody High School Mary worked in a Leather Factory and a Dress Making Factory. Later, she worked along side her husband Thomas Gregory and her sister-in-law Mary Serrow in the family business Gregory Cleansers on Derby Street in Salem.

Mrs. Gregory enjoyed dancing, cooking, travel, entertaining and was a big fan of the Red Sox and enjoyed going to games and watching them play on television. Mrs. Gregory was also a founding member in the Daughters of Penelope and St. Vasilios Women's Association. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family and the many wonderful trips they took together over the years.


Mrs. Gregory is survived by a daughter Deborah Gregory of Salem, and brothers Dr. Miltiades Vorgeas of Salem , Theodore Borgeas and Manuel Vorgeas both of California, and her sister Elayne Myers of New York and several nieces and nephews.


She was predeceased by a sister Rita Vorgeas.

Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. in St. Vasilios Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
