Mary R. Gibbons

Mary R. Gibbons, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Mary is lovingly remembered by daughters Paula (Kevin) Doty of Carson City, NV and Elizabeth (Alec) Ross of Sheridan, WY, and son, Thomas, of Beverly, MA; sisters Joan Carney of Hadley, MA and Teresa (Al) Murray of Ware, MA; as well as four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gibbons; parents Arthur and Julia Lincoln; and brother, Charles Lincoln.

Mary grew up in Palmer, MA, and was a graduate of Palmer High School and Elms College. She taught math in the Palmer and Plymouth school districts and was a substitute teacher in Duxbury when her children were in school there. Mary loved knitting and made many lovely gifts for her children and grandchildren. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband around the US and Europe. Mary and Paul honeymooned on Cape Cod and moved to Duxbury just for the beach.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 29, at Mount Benedict Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Duxbury Free Library: https://www.duxburyfol.org/donate.
