Obituary

Mary Ellen (Bransfield) Jalbert, 77, of Marblehead, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born January 28, 1948, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Mary Ellen was a lifelong resident of Marblehead, living her entire life in the same beloved family home.

She attended Star of the Sea School and graduated from Marblehead High School. After earning her associate's degree, Mary Ellen began her career working for the Governor, a position she greatly enjoyed, before moving on to North Shore Children's Hospital in Salem. She later joined her family business, Beverly Medical Supplies, where she dedicated many years of service.

Despite being born with physical challenges, Mary Ellen defied the odds and never complained. She was tough, witty, and deeply proud of her Irish heritage. She shared a special bond with her brother, Ted, whose memory she cherished throughout her life.

Mary Ellen had a passion for live music and was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan, especially of the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots. She was among the original Patriots season ticket holders. She loved traveling to Bermuda with her husband, John, and treasured time spent with her lifelong neighborhood friends, hosting holiday parties, and visiting close family friends at their lake house in New Hampshire. She also loved to read, and Christmas was her favorite season, when she delighted in spoiling her children and grandchildren with her generosity and love. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren, and she loved nothing more than watching them play hockey and celebrating their many accomplishments.

Mary Ellen leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, John Jalbert. She was the proud mother of three children: Stephen Jalbert and his wife Kristen, along with their sons Aidan and Connor of Marblehead; Michele Connors and her husband Michael, with their children Tatum, McKenna, and Mikey of Cumberland, RI; and Andrea Young and her son Carter Young of Marblehead.

She is predeceased by her parents, Edward Bransfield and Alice (Kehoe) Bransfield, as well as her brother, Edward J. "Ted" Bransfield, Jr.

Her warmth, devotion, and pride in her family touched all who knew her.
