Salem….
On Tuesday afternoon March 6, 2012 at the Danvers Twin Oaks Care and Rehab Center Martha J. Williams Richardson, age 92, wife of the late Almon "Al" Richardson, entered immortality after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded during her final days by her loving family. Born in Salem, Mrs. Richardson was the daughter of the late Charles and Georgie Symonds Williams. She was raised and educated in Salem.

Mrs. Richardson started her working career with A.C. Lawrence in Peabody. After raising her children, she went to work at Almy's in Salem where she was manager of the Boy's Department for several years. Mrs. Richardson enjoyed cooking, growing plants and gardening paying particular attention to her tomatoes. But most especially, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving her are three children, Ellen Richardson and her partner Joanne Pardue and their son Richard of Auburn, ME; Kenneth Richardson and his partner Aaron Diener of Salem; and Mary Provost and her husband Timothy of Merrimac. She was one of 14 children and is survived by her beloved sister Bertha Strout of Marblehead and two grandchildren, Melissa Provost of Merrimac and Meghan Provost and her boyfriend Chris Mancuso of Erie ,PA.

Mrs. Richardson's Funeral Service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) on Saturday, March 10th at 12:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Internment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Richardson's family has requested donations be made to Alzheimer's Research and may be made in Mrs. Richardson's name to Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
