Mrs. Martha A. (Trasher) Carey, aged 85, of Marblehead, wife of the late Francis H. "Ike" Carey or Marblehead, died Monday, August 22nd, 2011 peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice House.

Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Percy and Emma (LaForme) Trasher. She was educated in Salem schools. Following her graduation from Salem High School, she met and married her late husband, moved to Marblehead and began their family.

Dedicated to her family, she was a Library Aid at Glover School in Marblehead, MA. for over 25 years until retiring. Mrs. Carey was a active member of the Marblehead Council on Ageing.

Mrs. Carey is survived by two sons Charles M. Carey and his wife Donna of Marblehead, and Peter G. Carey of Florida; 2 sisters Lorraine Sadoski of Salem and Carol Smith of Portsmouth, NH; 3 grandchildren Heather McCarthy, Michele Rodrigues and her husband Charles, and Emma Catherine Carey; 4 great grandchildren Lily McCarthy, Margaret McCarthy, William J. Flint, Jr. and Mark Charles Flint.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles A. Trasher and Philip Trasher; four sisters Louise Nonni, Ruth S. Trasher, Helen Krajeski, and Margaret Ireland, and a grandson Mark Carey.

Her graveside Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 25 at 10:00 am in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, 140 Lafayette St., Marblehead, MA.
