Obituary

Mark David Patterson, 56 years old, lived an exceptional life. He was raised in
Lynnfield, Massachusetts, graduated from Langley High School in McLean, Virginia,
and studied at Nasson College in Springvale, Maine.

Mark, a resident of Salem, Massachusetts, was a kind, compassionate, and loving
person who supported those in the greater Lynn mental health community. He often served the Salvation Army during the holiday season raising money for those in need. He was also a member of the Lynn Friendship Club. In his free time, Mark
loved to ride his bike, play tennis, and spend time at the beach.

Mark suffered more than the average person; he was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 20 years old. Despite his mental illness, he contributed to the community through his service supporting families and holding various jobs over the years. His goal in life was to earn a college degree and he continuously worked towards this goal by taking classes at North Shore Community College, American Intercontinental University Online, and was in the registration process at the University of Southern New Hampshire Online.

Mark was flexible, easy--going, social, and independent. He had an amazing ability to remember detailed childhood experiences and recently posted a specific memory of the parents of one of his friends from Boy Scouts on Facebook.

Mark is survived by his father Herbert Patterson, brother Keith Patterson, sister
Karen Brunett, niece Chelsea Brunett, and nephew John Brunett. Mark's mother, Rachelle Ann Patterson--Lloyd of McLean, Virginia passed away in 1987. A prayer service will be held in the Chapel at the Centre Congregational Church in Lynnfield
at 11:30am on Sunday, August 31, 2014. The family suggests donating to Bridgewell (www.bridgewell.org), a non--profit serving the greater Lynn mental health
community.
