Marjorie A Reynolds

Salem – Marjorie, a lifelong resident of Salem, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2026 surrounded by her four daughters. She shared 52 years of marriage with her husband Dick Reynolds. She was the daughter of Charles and Margaret Walsh. Marjorie attended St. James grammar school and graduated from Salem State College with a degree in Education. She worked as a teacher while raising her five children and had a second career as a medical secretary after they were grown. She volunteered for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Lifebridge, Woman’s Friend Society and John Bertram House and was a member of the Salem Garden Club, Immaculate Conception bowling league and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians for many years. In addition to those official ministries, she was always ready with a helping hand and open heart. Marjorie will be remembered for her “the door is always open” way, providing a temporary, loving home for many of her children’s friends. She enjoyed playing word games, was an avid gardener and reader and she passed those loves on to her children and grandchildren. She loved family vacations and left her family with many precious memories of those. She also loved and cared for many family pets over the years.

Marjorie is survived by her four daughters: Elizabeth and husband David Barceleau (Lynn, MA), Elaine and husband Joseph Bonanno (West Newbury, MA), Carol Reynolds and partner Doug Nelson (Scottsville, VA) and Ellen Jarmusik (Salem, MA), and her daughter-in-law Maryann Reynolds (St. Paul, MN). She was Gram to seven grandsons and their spouses/partners: Thomas and Addie Bonanno, Dominic and Kathleen Barceleau, Eric and Arabiye Bonanno, Ian Reynolds and Yeija Chen, Patrick Barceleau and Emily Freeman, Jake Reynolds, Kevin Bonanno and Jackie Cobb. She recently became a great-grandmother to Josephine Bonanno. She was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many.

Marjorie was mother to the late Thomas Reynolds as well as two infants Richard and Elizabeth. She was also predeceased by her husband Dick Reynolds and son-in-law Mike Jarmusik (with whom she loved watching Jeopardy).

She was a courageous woman and will be remembered with much love and admiration and will be dearly missed.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday September 26, 2026 begining at 11:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem, MA 01970. Burial will be private.
