Marjorie R. Quintal, RN., age 92, of Salem, died unexpectedly Sunday evening January 29, 2012 at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem.
Born in Connecticut, daughter of the late Wilfred B. and Jeannette (Finegold) Quintal, she was raised and educated in Salem graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1937. Miss Quintal then continued her education at the Salem Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She was employed for years at Salem Hospital in the Maternity Unit, retiring Night Supervisor of Maternity.
An honorary member of the Salem High School Class of 1941 Miss Quintal was an active member of its' Scholarship Fund Committee helping to raise over $125,000.
Surviving her are her brothers, Bertram Quintal and his wife Janice and Donald Quintal and his wife Beverly all of Peabody; five nieces and nephews, Gary, Brian, Doug, Laurie and Janice, many great nieces and great nephews and her close friend Lillian Sweeney of Salem.
A Funeral Service for Miss Quintal will be held on Thursday February 2, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.), Salem, MA. At the family request, there are no visiting hours. Internment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Plummer Home for Boys, Attn: James E. Lister, 37 Winter Island Rd., Salem, MA 01970.
