Obituary

WOLFEBORO, N.H.

— Marjorie Baker Miller, 75, wife for 45 years of Herbert E. Miller Jr. of Wolfeboro, N.H., formerly of Salem, died at home Sunday evening, Aug. 9, 2009 surrounded by her family and friends.

Born at the Hope Cottage in Swampscott the daughter of the late Roland Scott Baker and Barbara Louise (Doerr) Baker, she was raised and educated in Groveland, graduating from Groveland High School in the Class of 1951.

Mrs. Miller then attended Boston College until becoming employed by New England Telephone in their Salem Business Office. While working at New England Telephone and attending a retirement party for a coworker (who, unknown to her would become her father-in-law) she met her future husband. Mrs. Miller went on to become employed by the Titus Furniture Company in Salem and three years later they married and began their family. Mrs. Miller was an avid and passionate Boston sports fan always rooting for the home team. Her favorites included the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Miller is survived by two children, Herbert Edward Miller III of Bozrah, Conn. and Edythe Mancini and her husband Stephen of Wolfeboro, N.H. and a grandson, Jonathan Miller of Bozrah, Conn.

Her funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 11:30 a.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street) Salem. Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Susan G.
